CCC is open for the 2010 season. Join us for our 12th Season

Campers are you ready for the upcoming season here at CCC? Been a long winter and got cabin fever? Well come on down and check out the Canyon. CCC sees to the camping needs for the gay, bi and straight men of the US and from abroad.

Wow what fun this summer with Memorial Day Weekend Celebration, Biker weekend and all the motorcycles to the 4th of July and the fireworks display and parties that went on over the holidays. Christmas in July now over and the Show-Me-Bears event that was spectacular in attendance with great food, fun, dance. Man we are looking forward to this weekend with Country Western weekend followed by Leather in the Woods which is a lot of fun. We extend a warm welcome to all the new people that have found the "Canyon" and to those that have found it to be their new "home". We appreaciate each and every camper that come out to enjoy the outdoors here at the "Canyon".

Looking foward to our first trip to CCC this season

Hi fellow CCC fans! Mike and I are really looking foward to this coming camping season, it promises to be a good one.  We will hit the canyon the
3rd week of March hoping the weather warms up some by then.  If you are at ccc that weekend be sure to come by and say hey! we will have the

 This place served as my sanctuary during the summer of 2009 and I look forward to the respite that
if offers for 2010. I leave St. Louis sometimes on a Saturday morning to enjoy nature and the solitude
this place offers. Owners are great. I would encourage you to expand your wings.

Riders needed to CCC from Columbia May 14-16
A buddy and I are traveling from Columbia to the campground  on May 14 (returning May 16) and
probably have room for a couple of extra passengers. We have *lots* of camping supplies - Large tent,
camp stove, lanterns, air mattresses, etc - about all you might need to bring are food/refreshments, and
maybe a pillow/blanket and help pay for gas.

Hey Jim and Chaz, it was really great that when sever weather was a threat and tornado warnings were out for Douglas Co that you
guys came out into the campground and warned everyone and directed us to your storm shelter it really helps
knowing that you guys are watching out for us thank you both very much. We had a great time even with the rain thanks to the hot
tub and sauna areas. The bonfire helped a lot to. see ya again soon

I had one of the best times of my life at CCC.  The pool was my favorite parts, however the socializing at night was just as wonderful. 
There are those places for the amerous to take care of their animal instincts, but I do not wish to participate in those activities.  I did
participate in the body painting, and that was WAAAYYYYY fun.  Everyone there is as nice as they can be.  I plan on attending atleast once this summer.

INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATION 

I just got back from a 6 day stay at CCC.  And I have 3 words to say about it.  
Fantastic, Fantastic and Fantastic.  The air show before the fire twirlers was a great addition 
to the entertainment.  I've heard rumors that it will be back next year in an improved version.  The 
fire twirlers were fun as usual and the fireworks show was out of this world.  The new deck/dance 
floor/karaoke area next to the swimming pool was packed with men after the show and even with that it 
was next to impossible to get through the crowd of near 300 "men bodies" around the pool.  Also 
the two young men that were doing the pole dancing----OMG.  I didn't know the human body could contort 
into those kind of shapes.  This old man is still trying to recover from that event!  The guys 
running the concession stand were cuties!  And their "Nanners and Nuts" were  delicious!  :-) Thanks to 
every single guy there for making it one of the most fun weekends of my life.  I'm going to 
start packing for  Leather Weekend!!     David
Wow-------I nearly forgot to mention the homemade ice cream contest-------thanks to those guys that made 
the ice cream---every flavor was DELISH-----they were all winners.

4th of July was a BLAST!!!!!

I have to say this was one of the best 4th of July weekends I have had in a long time. 
As always the campers were very friendly and made everyone feel welcomed. I had no idea 
that the firework display would be so extravagant.  We were all completely blown away!!! 
Thanks again, Jim and Chaz, for a great weekend and for providing us with such a great 
camping facility.  Can't wait to come back. Thinking about the Cowboy Roundup...yeeeeehaaaaaw!!!!!

Jay, you gave me a ride in your BUTCH white truck from the shower house on Sat. June 26th. 
I can't thank you enough for kindness and concern. 2nd ride was by ambulance to emergency 
surgery (well, Sunday morn.).  The medical consensus what that I got there, like, JUST IN TIME.  
Jay, I owe you one (wink).  It'll probably be another 4 weeks or so before I can run around. 
While strapped in and driven to Spfld, the EMT who was assisting me asked if there were a 
possibility of sumthin' stuck up me arse that was causing the discomfort. Who could help but 
laugh--I didn't go any further with that one although there's plenty of smart-ass answers 
for that question.  Thanks dear Brother for channeling "the Good Sumaritan" that morn.  It

Hello I be visiting CC on August 6-8 for leather in the woods event, this is the first time 
I have ever been there. Can someone give me some insight on what to expect, what should I 
bring and do most guys go nake while there.

CC Newbie looking for experienced campers advice/ride

32 sane, easy-going, gay male near Sgf looking to go all out and experience CCC for the first time any 
or all of July 28, 29, 30, Aug 1, 2. Anyone wanna give me any tips, show me around, or have extra room 
on their site or RV?  Can pitch in for gas/expenses.

Planning to visit the Canyon this coming Sat. - Sun. Have an SUV - if anyone from Spfld. or Republic 
needs a ride - let me know. It's about an hours drive. Would like the company. It's a non event weekend 
- so it should be fun. I've found non event weekends to offer less crowds and more action :) Looking 
forward to lounging by the pool in the buff. Can't forget the hot tub of course! Hit me up if interested.

The New Friendships Are A Great Asset

Thanks to all the great guys there on my visit 8/19-8/21. Chaz, you are a super guy, Dave(2), Richard(just Jack),

Tom Martin

Tom Martin passed May 5, 2010 primitive tent camper. He was Vice President of Show Me Bears and a member of the Gateway Mens Chorus. We are sorry to hear of his passing and want to wish his survivors our deepist sympathy.

Waylon T. Swalley

Waylon Swalley (age 40) passed away on July 25, 2010. Waylon left Cactus Canyon Campground on his new 2010 Yamaha to head home to Republic, MO. His partner Lewis drove their truck with camper in tow. Waylon ran off the right side of hwy 14 near AB hwy. Waylons motocycle overturned and at 1:15pm Waylon was pronounced dead from his injuries suffered. Waylon was wearing his helmet however his injuries were too severe. All of us here at the Canyon have felt severe remorse over Waylons death. We wish his partner Lewis and Waylon's family our deepist sympathy.

I was approached by Great Southern Bank to say there is a donation account set up at Great Southern Bank to help Lewis with burial expenses for Waylon. Donations may be made at any of our locations, if there are any questions at the banking centers, ask them to call the Republic location.

This is such a sad happening, I hope our community can pull together for Lewis.
